Creatures of Habit

“If you don’t have all the wisdom needed for this journey, then all you have to do is ask God for it; and God will grant all that you need. He gives lavishly and never scolds you for asking” (James 1:5, The Voice).

I am excited for those of you who have already registered for our Limitless Living Conference coming up this May with Dr. Jim Richards.  Our topic, The Supernatural Power of a Decision is very timely, and is designed to help you leave destructive cycles that have kept you in a “prison” of sub-standard living once and for all! We were meant to live in abundance!

Will and discipline are wildly overrated.  Have you noticed that even when the need for change is obvious and our intentions are strong, we often fall short? Making changes that last requires WRITING THE TRUTH on your heart, building positive rituals— highly specific behaviors that become automatic over time and no longer require conscious intention. Here are some facts about how we make decisions each and every day:

• We are creatures of habit. Ninety-five percent of our behaviors occur automatically, unconsciously or in reaction to an external demand. Only 5 percent of our actions are consciously selected.

• The more our behaviors are repeated and routinized, the more they occur without conscious effort and the less energy they require.

• The key to building successful rituals is to define the behaviors in a highly precise way and to do them at specific designated times.

• Resistance to making change is built into the process, and long-term success requires addressing the reasons we don’t want to make any given change.  

Involving God, His nature, His character, His wisdom and His understanding in the decisions we make aligns us with His promised preferred future.

Today is my day to ask God for the wisdom I need to make supernatural decisions.  Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I rest in knowing that I hear my Father’s voice.  I am extremely grateful for His Wisdom, and His generosity in lavishly sharing it with me. Because of Him I make great decisions!
